Timothy (Tim) Russell P.E., WRS, has a laser-focused goal of providing clients with innovative solutions, helping mentor Lumos’ next generation of engineering talent, and continuing the development and growth of the civil engineering department. Born and raised in Carson City, Tim is sixth generation Nevadan. A fierce competitor in business and athletics, Tim has been a competitive swimmer since the age of 6 and swam at the collegiate level while studying chemical and civil engineering at Auburn University. After obtaining his Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering and working in the Civil Engineering field for a year, Tim found a home in Civil Engineering. This led to Tim obtaining his Masters in Civil Engineering, after which Tim returned home to northern Nevada to continue his engineering career.
Known for his ability to quickly become immersed in a project and become a vital part of the team, Tim’s 20-year career has included a vast array of projects including transportation, utility, and public infrastructure facilities throughout Nevada and northern California.
Tim’s true engineering passion lies in water resources and water system planning. Since joining Lumos & Associates in 2014, he has grown Lumos’ water resource expertise by providing lead design, project management and construction management of multiple booster stations, tanks, wells and hundreds of miles of pipeline.
In 2021, Tim was named Director of Engineering, overseeing nearly 40 professionals across Lumos’ four offices. Working for both public and private clients, Tim and his team provide engineering solutions throughout the western US.
“Since joining Lumos, I have had the opportunity to work with some of the most talented professionals in not only the engineering field, but also survey and construction management, affording myself, and our team members continual professional growth,” Tim said.
Tim and his wife Cassidy are the proud parents of two daughters, both of whom are accomplished students and athletes. Tim can often be found volunteering at his daughter’s sporting events.
