Lumos & Associates teamed with H+K Architects to provide professional services for the demolition and replacement of Nevada's Trinity, Beowawe, and Miller rest areas - totaling over 36 acres in size. These sites are over fifty years old and pose several design challenges with their rural locations, including access to potable water resources and power needs.
Our team is supporting the reconstruction of the existing facilities through topographic surveys, geotechnical investigations, civil design, utility location, landscape architecture, percolation testing for new septic disposal systems, NDEP permitting, and construction management. This work will result in new rest area facilities and restrooms, interpretive elements, water treatment facilities, septic disposal systems, grading and stormwater improvements, improved parking lots with designated RV areas, RV dump stations, and surface improvements (paving and concrete walkways).
Civil design for these projects included site grading, paving, and ADA accessibility; well evaluations; well and water treatment design (including arsenic and high TDS treatment for the Trinity site); and drainage improvements and assessment.
Design for the Trinity, Beowawe, and Miller rest areas is complete with construction expected to begin this year.
